By late afternoon, the church picnic had become considerably less churchy. Someone had taught Mrs. Peterson how to use the electric scooter. The children were selling questionable handmade merchandise behind the barn. And you had somehow acquired a horse.

Made from a beautifully broken-in vintage quilt scattered with faded blue roses and tiny pink blossoms, this one has all the sweetness of an heirloom bedspread—and absolutely none of the obligation to behave yourself while wearing it.

The original quilt's stitching becomes part of the design: diamonds, channels and softly curving stitched details wander across the coat, while the naturally wavy edges have been left to do their charmingly imperfect thing. Inside, a vintage striped textile adds another layer of cottage-bedroom nostalgia.

And then there are those pockets.

Two oversized dusty-rose pockets sit deliberately mismatched on the front. One carries a tiny embroidered bouquet of blue, pink and yellow flowers.

The other does not.

Because only good girls match.

Relaxed, oversized and gloriously easy to throw over jeans, a dress, pyjamas for an emergency trip to the general store, or whatever one wears when unexpectedly acquiring Kevin.
