Straight from the sun-drenched fantasies of 1980s Hawaii, The Couch on Robin Masters’ Lanai is an upcycled quilted coat with serious Magnum P.I. swagger. I discovered the original quilt in a tiny surf town in Hawaii, and its glorious Polynesian print instantly transported me to that iconic oceanfront estate—bare feet on tile, trade winds blowing, and a certain mustachioed private investigator borrowing the fancy outdoor couch for a nap.
The coat’s exterior features a bold, tropical pattern and a cotton-fringed edge that feels authentically vintage island luxe. Look inside and you’ll spot a contrasting sea-blue batik lining that peeks out like ocean water between lava rocks. I finished it with deep rust-velvet pockets—rich, plush, and absolutely worthy of a Hawaii Kai mansion circa 1982.
It’s playful, decadent, and effortlessly cool. A wearable tribute to beach-town thrift gold, Polynesian textiles, and TV’s most charming detective.
